David Carrier, MD

Dr. Carrier is a Rochester native living in the area since he was 2 years old. He went to Pittsford-Mendon High School and graduated from Union College in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following graduation from the University of Rochester Medical School in 1990, he continued there for his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. After completing his residency in 1995, he joined his father, Dr. Robert Carrier, Dr. Liberatore Monaco and Dr. Timothy Clader to start his private practice. Dr. Carrier is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He currently is a clinical instructor for Physician Assistant students from a number of local colleges and was formerly part of the teaching faculty for the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Carrier’s practice interests remain diverse. He enjoys the one on one contact with patients while evaluating their problems. More importantly, he works with them to formulate the best individualized treatment plan for them. He believes that patient education is critical so patients understand their problems thoroughly and can choose treatments wisely. He is more than willing to answer questions for patients so they are well informed about their problem and treatment options. Dr. Carrier performs a wide variety of surgeries from simple carpal tunnel releases to complex joint replacement reconstructions. Total hip and total knee replacements, rotator cuff repairs, knee and shoulder arthroscopies, ACL reconstructions and fracture repair are some of the more common surgeries that he does.

When not at work, you are most likely going to find Dr. Carrier at a sporting event either watching or coaching one of his four children. His family lives in Victor and they are very active in football, soccer, ski racing and baseball. In the winter, Dr. Carrier’s real passion is skiing and he relishes skiing the steep and deep out west. When he gets a chance in the summer, sport fishing is his other passion. Around home, he enjoys woodworking and trying to keep his house in one piece.
